Creating a Frozen-Inspired Birthday Invite with AI Tools: A Personal Favourite

Jan 10, 2025 | Blog

Last year, as my daughter’s birthday approached, I faced a familiar parental challenge: creating the perfect birthday invitation. She, like many toddlers (and let’s face it, quite a few adults), adores Frozen and has a particular soft spot for Elsa. While a trip to Arendelle wasn’t on the cards, I decided to experiment with AI image creation tools to bring a touch of Frozen magic to her birthday invite.

The goal? Get a character resembling an “ice princess” (read: Elsa-inspired) to hold a birthday cake. With some trial and error—and a lot of fun—I managed to create a charming invite that captured her imagination. It’s a simple use case, but it still stands out as one of my favourite creative experiments with AI tools.

The AI Challenge: Crafting the Perfect Ice Princess

One of the trickiest parts of working with AI image creators is navigating the rules around copyrighted and trademarked characters. For obvious reasons, I couldn’t use the actual name “Elsa” or any trademarked terms in my prompts. Instead, I had to get creative with descriptions. After multiple attempts and adjustments, I landed on this:

“An elegant ice princess with long blonde hair in a plait, dressed in a blue gown, smiling and holding a birthday cake on a white background, cartoon in a circular frame.”

The result was a beautiful illustration that perfectly matched the theme while remaining entirely original. I then slapped it in Canva to complete the invitation.

The Workflow: From Concept to Invitation

  1. AI Image Creation: I used Bing’s AI image creator to generate the illustration. This tool proved surprisingly effective at interpreting the detailed prompt, delivering a character that delighted my daughter.
  2. Customisation with Canva: After generating the image, I imported it into Canva to design the final invite. Canva’s intuitive tools made it easy to add text, arrange elements, and create a polished design.
  3. Final Touches: A bit of tweaking here and there, and voilà—a unique birthday invite that set the tone for a magical “Princess Party.” [Canva Template Link]

Why This Project Stands Out

Over the past year, I’ve explored many more AI image creation tools and workflows, but this use case remains close to my frozen heart. It was practical, creative, and sparked pure joy for its intended audience—a toddler who was thrilled to see her love for Frozen reflected in her invite.

However, this was the image I ended up using in 2024, created with Bing’s image creator. Not quite perfect, and this was after many attempts.

Where is the Plait!

In 2025, image creation tools have improved by a large margin. The following image which is in serious danger of breach of copyright was made in Midjourney with the same prompt, and this was on the first attempt. The resemblance is SPOT ON!

If you’re inspired to try something similar, here’s a link to Bing’s AI Image Creator: Bing Image Creator. You can sign up to Midjourney here. Whether you’re making birthday invites, experimenting with designs, or simply having fun, these are fantastic tools to explore.

Feel free to use the concept or adapt the prompt for your own projects (non-commercial use, of course, as these aren’t official images). Sometimes, it’s the simple, heartfelt projects like these that remind us how technology can enhance creativity in the most delightful ways.

Blocking Calls from 0843 and 0845 calls on an iPhone

I’ve been receiving scam calls for some time now. These are typically automated and hang up after a brief ring. I suspect the scam involves premium rate numbers making money when people call them back. You may know the type—calls with messages about claiming your...
